Most remarkable about the performance capabilities of the 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid are how this fuel-efficient sedan manages to deliver comparable horsepower and torque to other gasoline-only sedan engines. Without getting overly technical, under the hood of the 2017 Camry Hybrid is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve engine with dual variable valve timing. This latter feature, known as VVT for short, is itself a fuel-efficiency enhancer that you can find in regular, non-hybrid Camrys. In fact, on its own, the 4-cylinder gasoline engine in the Camry Hybrid produces roughly 178 horsepower and 170 foot-pounds of torque. With the addition of the electric motor that runs either in place of or in conjunction with the gas engine, the Toyota Camry Hybrid has sufficient performance to handle all of your daily driving needs and weekend adventures.
